A strong, diversified economy brings good jobs. And good jobs matter. Work brings self-respect and a feeling of accomplishment, promotes self-determination, provides structure to support our families and contributes to our collective responsibilities.
It is imperative that South Dakota be a pro-growth, minimal regulation business environment that fosters entrepreneurs, small business owners and companies. I am known in the legislature to vote for economic development that generates quality jobs in our state.
As a fiscal conservative, I believe in spending to match our income. Government must be held accountable, with minimal taxes to support primary obligations.
What I Did
- Prime sponsored two pieces of legislation that reduced small business regulation allowing expansion of catering and improved ability of non-profit organizations to host successful fundraisers.
- Strong supporter of technical school oversight changes that lead to education being responsive to industry talent and workforce needs.
- Worked creatively with Appropriations to meet our statutory and essential obligations while always balancing the budget.
